must love books.. :p

Expression01although I am not in good condition last weekend, I just couldn’t stay quit long enough.  so saturday afternoon, after good lunch with sam and felt a little better, I decided to go to the bookstore at say two plaza near seodaejeon negeori.  I bought three magazines: icon and illust- both are illustration magazines, the first is mostly about 3D graphics while the
second is about manual illustration and an english version of f1 racing.

however, this saturday  trip led to another sunday trip (since I also felt good that sunday) since there was a review about manhwa titled ‘expression’.  it seemed sooo good that I just had to see it, therefore I went to another book store near yumendong or daejeon’s old downtown.

in fact, I couldn’t find the book I was looking for, but since I could read and understand little korean, now I can browse for one bookshelf to another.  and on one shelf I found a collection of korean comics or manhwa, special ones, since they were thick and printed in full colors.  and I took the gung and dasepo girl manhwa home with me..

and for the book that caused the journey, I finally found and bought one at another store at the same area.  it was the ‘expression’ manhwa..

if you are curious about what kind of manhwas I bought, just check the martabakomikita site here (for the review) and here (for the sample pictures, especially the ‘expression’ manhwa).

I think I love books too much, hihi..

from fall to winter season..

Scene026the seasons is changing, and it does make the differences, especially about the weather and temperature.  the temperature had dropped quite significant during the past two weeks and for me it created funny things to watch…

because since it is infact very cold, but the sun shines very bright, so it is interesting enough to see people walking on the streets with thick clothes under the bright sunshine.  although several girls were againts the odd by still wearing mini outfits -such as mini skirt- in such cold day.  a super girls, said my friend gyu seung..

the changing season also gave me the gamgi - korean words for cold/influenza- last week.   it started as a little coughing and sometimes nose bleed (an automatic warning from my body when it  is ‘overloaded’) and for the rest of the week, it became worst and worst.  and when I thought the worst was over yet -actually the worst had happened on saturday: I couldn’t wake up in the morning and slept until almost 2 o’clock pm-, last night was a sleepless night.  I coughed alot from midnite until 3 am in the morning..

but it is not a miserable time all the time.  and when you’re sick, and then people started asking about your condition and wish you to get well soon, it gave you a warm feeling in your heart.  that there are people who care about you..

so monday night, when I felt quite well, I would like to do the same thing and sent message of a good wish to a close friend whose news I didn’t hear since our last chat at the lebaran day..

just wish you a healthy condition and always being protected by the Almighty above.. :-)

this morning, I went a little late to school.  it’s winter season already and the morning is also becoming later and later.  as usual, as the first comer to the lab, I switched on the lights, turned on the computer, played the DAI: do the a side disc 2 (that contains the TAO song), and logged on to YM to check new emails on my yahoo account (it’s kinda routine things to do every workdays here..).  there was messages telling me that three new mails were in the inbox folder.

and there was one mail that brought joyfulness and happiness.  it’s a short mail with two attachments: a baby photo and the father holding the new born baby.  the baby is cute, and the father really really looks very very tired and needs sleep, badly.. -as most father do whenever they have newborn babies.  but what really surprised me is the father is somehow look thinner, ha ha ha..

well, congratulations for the happy couple, my best friend icus and lanlan for being officially father and mother!  wish the baby would grow as great as his parents!

november rain…

When I look into your eyes
I can see a love restrained
But darlin’ when I hold you
Don’t you know I feel the same
‘Cause nothin’ lasts forever
And we both know hearts can change
And it’s hard to hold a candle
In the cold November rain

We’ve been through this such a long long time
Just tryin’ to kill the pain
But lovers always come
and lovers always go
And no one’s really sure who’s lettin’ go today
Walking away
If we could take the time
to lay it on the line
I could rest my head
Just knowin’ that you were mine
All mine

So if you want to love me
then darlin’ don’t refrain
Or I’ll just end up walkin’
In the cold November rain

Do you need some time…on your own
Do you need some time…all alone
Everybody needs some time…on their own
Don’t you know you need some time…all alone

I know it’s hard to keep an open heart
When even friends seem out to harm you
But if you could heal a broken heart
Wouldn’t time be out to charm you

Sometimes I need some time…on my
own Sometimes I need some time…all alone
Everybody needs some time…on their own
Don’t you know you need some time…all alone

And when your fears subside
And shadows still remain, ohhh yeahhh

I know that you can love me
When there’s no one left to blame
So never mind the darkness
We still can find a way
‘Cause nothin’ lasts forever
Even cold November rain

Don’t ya think that you need somebody
Don’t ya think that you need someone
Everybody needs somebody
You’re not the only one
You’re not the only one

just a little ‘confession’ that I kinda loose my grip a couple of days ago..  I did some clumsy things that might be annoying people I care, I lost my patience (especially last night, although I managed to keep it down..) and other stupidity..

just wanna say I’m so sorry..

but I’ll better.  I have to be!  and thanks for the messages I received today.  it helps. a lot.  :-)

Dscn9535it was another fun-trip on weekend with me, beny and gyu seung went to seoul to see the ani!mpact animation festival at jungang sinema, myeongdong, seoul.

pepero day

Sunday, November 12th, 2006

Dscn9492banother unique day in korea, last saturday, and it’s the pepero day :D  the pepero day is held every nov 11, since the date if written in all numeric systems would be presented as 11 11, that resembles four sticks of pepero.  pepero is a kind of chocolate stick that looks like japanese’s pocky, but produced and manufactured inside korea by lotte.

the pepero day -according several resources on the internet, originated when the students from all girls high school in busan started to give pepero to one another in the hope that the one who received the pepero would grow up like the form of pepero: tall and slim.  somehow, this act then spread out and nov 11 or 11 11 ‘officially’ became the pepero day, the day for friends or couples to exchange pepero to show their compassion toward each others.

Dscn9529my friend who has been in korea long enough said that pepero day is the day for best friends, since the couples already has the valentine (feb 14) and white day (mar 14).  but many couples also use the pepero day to show their love to their lover, so it is not a strange sight to spot many red and pink package of pepero sold - many of them with heart shaped pillow or teddy bear included in the package.

as for myself, it is a day for best friends.  but unfortunately, I couldn’t send the pepero to my best friends down there
.

sorry….

Thousand years and far away - Hoshi no Koe theme song

Hnk_image03

Hello, little star

Are you doing fine?
I’m lonely as everything in birth

Sometimes in the dark
When I close my eyes
I dream of you, the planet earth

If I could fly across this night
Faster than the speed of light
I would spread these wings of mine

Through the years and far away
Far beyond the milky way
See the shine that never blinks
The shine that never fades

Thousand years and far away
Far beyond the silky way
You’re the shine that never blinks
The shine that never dies

Hello, tiny star
Can you hear me call?
I’m so blind as everything at birth

If I could flow against these nights
Straiter than the string of light
I would lay these hands on time

Through the years and far away
Far beyond the milky way
See the shine that never blinks
The shine that never fades

Thousand years and far away
Far beyond the silky way
You’re the shine that never blinks
The shine that never dies

Through the years and far away
Far beyond the milky way
You’re the shine that never blinks
The shine that never dies

yesterday, for my research project about the art of intervals in animation, I watched makoto shinkai’s works ‘hoshi no koe’ and ‘kanojo to kanojo no neko’, again and again.  both stories are simple but for me they are very touching (for the review of kanojo to kanojo no neko, just visit here).  especially hoshi no koe, since the story revolves around two lovers separate by time and distant and connect themselves through mobile phone messaging.

a little reminder about the situation I face here (but skip the lover’s part!)..  receiving mesages from friends far-far away on my mobile phone always gives me the warmest feeling in the heart..  :-)

first snow of the winter season

Monday, November 6th, 2006

yesterday when I met prof. lee for making an appointment to discuss my school project, suddenly she mentioned that tomorrow (that means today), according to chinese lunar calender is the first day of winter.  she also suggest me to prepare for the colder weather.

and last night, around  1 am, sam called me and told me that the snow was coming down.  so I just opened my window -a it’s quite freezing out there- and there was snow, falling slowly from the dark sky.  although it wasn’t that many and long enough to put white scene every where, but seeing the snow slowly falling from the sky is very beautiful.  I sent messages to my closest friends back home just to tell them how beautiful it is :-)

for a friend of mine, just wish you were here.  it’s really really beautiful sight.. :-)

and sorry, no photos of the occasion.  it was too dark to take photos..
